The 2025 school year is off to a great start!
Thank you for your ongoing support of Trujillo Christian School. In February, our students and staff celebrated the school’s 33rd anniversary! Since 1992, hundreds of children have been educated and loved through this work.
Your school continues to provide a good, stable foundation for children in Trujillo, Honduras. Most importantly, they learn about Jesus’ love for them through daily Bible classes. We have 160 students enrolled for the 2025 school year and a dedicated staff to educate them.
Enclosed, you will find a photo of the student(s) that you sponsor. If this is a different student than you previously sponsored, it is either because the student graduated (completed 6th grade) or did not return to our school.
Over the years, the school’s mission and love for children has not changed. However, what has changed is the cost of operating the school.
Financial update:
TCS operates on a very tight budget. God has always provided the resources that the school has needed, mostly through the hands and feet of generous donors of time and money. Both the US and Honduran school overseers keep a close eye on the dollars (and lempiras) to stretch them as far as possible. No one in the US receives any compensation – we use 100% of the funds for the school.
In the US, we are all very aware of the impacts of inflation. In Honduras, over the last 20 years, they have experienced it at a rate three times what we have. The cost of operating the school has continued to increase as well.
Salaries in Honduras are much lower than we are accustomed to and the Trujillo lifestyle is very basic. However, we need to be fair to our teachers and staff and continue to provide enough for them to reasonably live on. We have not kept up with inflation, so effectively; their real wages are lower than they were a few years ago. We would like to increase our teachers’ pay across the board by an average of 10%. That will only cost about $900 USD/month.
How to help:
This letter is going to people who already give to the school. Please know that your continued support is critical. We recognize that there are many things pulling at your pocketbooks and that you give voluntarily. No matter at what level you are able to give, you are making a difference and we sincerely thank you.
We also want to ask you to help us spread the donor base wider. If you know anyone individually, or if you are part of a church that might allow us to talk to them about this ministry, please let us know.
Some things to consider if you are able:

Ask your church to consider a special contribution. For example, West Metro Church of Christ will take a collection for the school on Father’s Day.

A monthly donation of any amount. We suggest $50/month, but will accept any increment (or multiple) of that amount

A one-time donation of any amount

Allocating part of required minimum distributions from IRAs (age 72 and above)

Estate gifts (wills, etc.)
